American hip hop star Snoop Dogg has been locked in to headline the 2025 AFL Grand Final and the top brass were keen to make sure the star knew the nuances of the… game.
A source close to the D O Double G told The Times,
“We just want to know the specific penalty for getting someone high, we understand the AFL umpires can be a little inconsistent with this rule and we are almost sure The Doggfather is going to fall foul of it”
The AFL has reached out to his team and told him that while the rule is fairly simple in practice there are other considerations. A spokesperson told The Times,
“It’s the official stance of the AFL that high contact or contact high as it may be is not tolerated but if you duck into it like a Hawthorn player, then we’ll be reluctant to pay it, so in that circumstance Mr Snoop would be free to get someone high and play on”
We understand the star accepts the explanation but is still a little confused. Either way, expect anyone playing along side of Snoop to be awarded a few frees on the big day.
