The VFL has acknowledged the limitations of the current Brownlow voting system after controversies in the 2025 vote.
These controversies included but were not limited to Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera getting robbed and Nick Daicos not winning the award despite how badly the VFL wanted him to.
To remedy the situation, the VFL has brought in two excited changes to the Brownlow vote. Firstly, umpires will get access to the stats so they can make a decision on who was the most prolific seagull and an exclusive stream to Eddie McGuire’s consciousness.
After hearing Eddie’s thoughts on the game, the umpires will then cast their votes and the VFL hopes the “right” result will manifest at the next awards ceremony.
We spoke to an umpire who said the changes were well needed. Adding,
“We’d all be pretty lost without Eddie. Sure we’re out there on the ground watching all the players but he’s up in some corporate box half watching while trying to shmooze his way onto another television show”
The VFL has also announced that Eddie’s thoughts will be provided to the Brownlow integrity panel to assure umpires didn’t go rogue and ignore his vast wealth of wisdom when it came to which Collingwood player ought win the award.
