A BYD Shark owner is licking his wounds today after police noticed he had a regular WA licence plate rather than the seemingly mandatory shark-themed plate.
This law naturally follows on from the general vehicle regulations surrounding EVs where some variety of personalised plate is legally required.
With the BYD Shark, this personalisation must relate to a shark. For example, a reference to a bite, jaws, fin, great or white. We spoke to the man who said he feels he’s let down the community. Adding,
“I understand now that it’s people like me who give the BYD Shark community a bad name. If we’re honest, half the reason we own these dual cabs is because the entire shark vibe is cool. I failed to honour that”
We can also report that the police slapped the canary on crooked because the man failed to laugh at their humorous approach to stickering.
After spotting the Shark, the police officers circled the car while humming the jaws theme before slapping the sticker on during the crescendo. A classic shark joke. Our boy told The Times,
“It’s another example of me forgetting who I am. I’m a Shark driver and I really should’ve leaned into the gag. Even though they are sending me over the pits, it’s all a part of being a Shark man”
We understand the driver is now in the process of picking out a fishy pun. Like he ought to.
