Freo Dockers have been training in a Wagin sheep paddock in preparation for the SCG turf

The Fremantle Dockers have taken extreme measures to be ready for the disgraceful SCG turf on the weekend.

Rather than training at their regular Cockburn facility, Flagmantle travelled to the quaint Wheatbelt town of Wagin to have a run on a ankle-breaking paddock.

A source close to the Dockers told The Times that it was really the only way to prepare, adding,

“To be honest, the paddock was in better knick than the SCG so we are still preparing for the plenty of ACLs and the like. Someone really should ban Sydney from hosting games until they get their shit together”

It’s actually a tactic that Geelong footy club has used for years. Getting to train on the farms that magically appear in star player’s portfolios is key to their success.

Not only have the boys been strengthening their joints on the paddock, they’ve also had an opportunity to socialise with the good people of Wagin.

We can report that a local farmer has even offered Luke Jackson 50 head of sheep if he’ll deflect to the Eagles. No doubt an offer he’ll mull over long and hard.

All in all, a big win for the Freo footy club.
