Fuel companies have welcomed the Federal Government cutting the fuel excise in half as the consumer now has more money to meet the 26c increase coming due to uncertainty surrounding the fuel excise cut.
In a combined front, the fuel companies said there was simply no way of knowing what effect the fuel excise being halve would have on their industry and a price hike was the only logical solution in these unprecedented times.
A source close to the fuel industry told The Times,
“I think it’s great these companies are using fresh, albeit, confusing excuses for shameless price gouging. I think your average punter doesn’t know too much about excises so they just thought, fark it, we’ll run with that”
Some in the community were quick to call out this price raise. Stating that it was highly suspicious that there’s a 26c raise in price at the same time the consumer will save 26c a litre. With one telling The Times,
“I think something is fishy here, no doubt the ACCC will consider it par for the course and let them get away with this fuckery”
Well, let’s hope not.
