Geelong formally request an assistance package from the AFL

Geelong claim more has to be done to even the playing field after being hammered six ways to Sunday at yesterday’s grand final.

Coach Scott was particularly furious that small battler clubs like Geelong are at a constant disadvantage in the league. With a source close to The Times telling us,

“If Geelong doesn’t get some priority picks, small cap assistance and more free farming land then the club will struggle in the future. If the AFL is serious they’ll take the request seriously”

The AFL is apparently very open to the idea. Agreeing that Geelong have been at a significant disadvantage for some time. A source added,

“You have to feel very sorry for Geelong, most clubs get to enjoy the character building experience of a rebuild. Not Geelong, they just get top tier talent throwing themselves at them and everyone just thinks that’s OK??? Justice for Geelong!”

Naturally, the AFL still has delusions they can grow the game in Queensland and NSW so they won’t plunder those team’s talent but let’s just say that any help the Eagles hoped to receive may be diverted now.

More to come.
