In a candid interview, John Cena revealed the real reason he chose Perth as his last international match and it was no coincidence it aligned with the opening of the Byford Rail Extension.
Admitting he was a big fan of both Byford and the Armadale Line, Cena said he wasn’t going to let this opportunity slip. Adding,
“Man, what a marvel, what a serious piece of infrastructure, when I get home to America the memories of riding the train to Byford are going to be up there with some of the best memories of my life”
Cena went on to admit that he’d be tracking the project’s progress like a hawk and the delays made it difficult for him to plan his tour. He continued,
“I get it man, big projects have hiccups but I rung Western Australia myself and told them that if I’m not on that train to Byford before my 50th birthday you were never gonna see me! I think that’s what got the project moving”
Some will say that the Byford extension wasn’t the sole reason John came to Perth and would allege something silly like he was paid a dickload of money.
However, the man is worth a fair few dollars and being a part of the Byford Station festivities is something money can’t buy.
So consider THAT.
