Perth Park plans giant “2” statue to remind England how many days it took to win Ashes Test

While the proposed Perth Park has its critics, the entirety of the Antipodean populace of Perth can get behind the giant statue of the number 2 which will loom over Perth Stadium as a reminder of what just occurred.

The historic test saw Australia pants the English in 2 days – a feat that hasn’t been achieved for 104 years. Accordingly, a statue is a fitting tribute.

We spoke to a source close to Perth Park who said it was a no-brainer, adding,

“As we all know, there are a lot of English ex-pats in Australia and frankly if we don’t remind them of this historic capitulation then we are doing ourselves a disservice as Australians. Yes, the statue is quite large but we are hoping it can be seen from the northern burbs”

Some within the cricket community are calling the statue premature, given there are more tests to play.

While a fair point, this isn’t about the Australian cricket team, it’s about Perth getting to host this most delicious of results.

No matter what happens at the Gabba, Radelaide, Smellburn or Shitney, we will always be able to say we witnessed one of the finest bed-shits cricket has ever seen.

That “2” will live on in the hearts of West Aussie cricket fans for generations to come.
