TransPerth eases public’s mind over derailment by appointing BHP as train safety consultants

TransPerth realises the optics of yesterday’s derailment at Baysie Station may cause some to be concerned for their safety.

According to the PTA, the derailment was caused when two wheel undercarriages from a railcar had partially come off the tracks.

Accordingly, they have got on the front foot and brought in the absolute names in train safety – BHP.

A source close to TransPerth told The Times,

“They wanted a company that wasn’t associated with derailments so obviously BHP sprung to mind. No one thinks about BHP and then thinks about derailments, right?”

While the overwhelming public is now carefree, there are some within society who say perhaps BHP isn’t the right company for the job. With one passenger telling The Times,

“BHP… why does that ring a bell… wait a minute… did something happen in 2018?”

Ah, yes. We put that to BHP who told The Times,

“You’re living in the past. If you’re talking about that little whoopsie in the Pilbara then grow up. Did we cause anyone to need to catch a replacement bus? No.”

A fair point BHP.
