WA Museum to exhibit a tree so residents of Perth’s sprawling burbs can remember what one looks like

The WA Museum welcomes a new addition to its exhibits – a fully grown tree, which it hopes will serve as a historic reminder to residents of Perth’s new suburbs that trees indeed existed once upon a time

Trees, which many old Perth residents remember, are generally despised by housing estate developers for the fact they take up space where another duplex could go.

Accordingly, the ever growing population of the sprawl often forget about trees and wonder why their burbs feel so stifling and hot all the time

We spoke to a sprawler who said he sometimes googled pictures of trees for a little treat. Adding,

“Oh yeah, those things, I seem to remember them from my childhood so am looking forward to taking my kid to the museum to show them what all the fuss is about”

Not everyone is  happy about the new exhibit, with a group of NIMBYs demand the tree exhibit be cut down as it obscures the view of other exhibits.

We spoke to a source close to the NIMBY group who told The Times,

“Why should I have to walk around the tree to look at other exhibits? Why should I be placed under the smallest amount of inconvenience due to an organic treasure essential to human life, ahhh!!”

Property developers have also objected to the exhibit saying they’d rather people just forget about trees as it suited their bottom line.

No doubt they did.
