Western Australia has made clear its 0 tolerance policy on Wooroloo Prison Farm inmates snacking on guinea pigs after reports surfaced today of the allegations.
A source close to the WA Justice System has confirmed that anyone allegedly caught eating pets from shelters would have their usual rations replaced with American beef.
The move has shocked Human Rights advocates who claim conditions in WA prisons are already atrocious. With one expert telling The Times,
“American beef, really? I mean, I know people believe you should do the time if you do the crime but are we no better than the seppos if we do this? No one should be made to eat American beef”
The announcement of the highly unorthodox “behavioural management tactic” has sent shivers through the prison community with many fearing they could be subject to the same cruel and unusual punishment.
We spoke to an inmate at Hakea who said he was giving serious thought into his booming narcotic enterprise given what’s at stake. Adding,
“I think I provide a welcome service but what if I’m the reason we all get served American beef? I don’t think I’d leave these prison walls alive. Maybe it’s time to get my life together”
Some within the justice system claim this is proof the punishment is already working.
