West Coast requires all draft picks to hold a valid white card so they can legally work on a rebuilding site 

West Coast Eagles have addressed their supporters in a pre-draft press conference this morning. Telling them that their main priority for the draft is adequate construction experience to handle the rebuild. 

Accordingly, anyone drafted to the Eagles this evening will be required to hold a valid white card. A source close to the Eagles told The Times,

“It’s the bare minimum needed to be inducted onto a rebuilding site so that’s what we are looking for. Of course, additionally construction experience will be handy given this is a big and extensive rebuild, possibly ongoing for a decade or more”

As you can expect, the news has caused mixed reactions amongst the draftees. With some taking steps to cancel their white cards in the hope of not being sent to West Coast. A source told us,

“It seems like an easy way to wiggle out of being drafted to West Coast. Just refuse to get your white card or demonstrate a history of negligence on a construction site. It will be disappointing if we see some youngsters game the system like this”

Whereas other less favoured draftees have set out to obtain their white card with urgency given the writing is on the wall for their chances of getting snapped up this year. 

West Coast have also confirmed that should a player get drafted to the Eagles they will help them out with PPE and a second hand Hilux.
