Australind service to Bunbury to recommence once Australind Bunbury Bypass is completed

The WA Government has revealed the reason the Australind train to Bunbury is taking so long is due to a delay in constructing the Australind Bunbury Bypass.

According to law, any major infrastructure in the South West must give Perth residents the opportunity to bypass Bunbury. A little law they forgot until recently.

We spoke to a source close to the project who said the Bypass is going to add time to the project but is completely necessary for the comfort of Perth passengers. Adding,

“First of all, it’s a feat of engineering to design a bypass that bypasses the destination of a service, some might say it defeats the purpose of said service but law is law. Secondly, how would you feel if you fell asleep on the Australind and ended up in Bunbury against your will? Yeah, thought so”

The project is expected to take a further decade or however long the other Bypass took. In the interim, Perth has plenty of opportunity to get ready for Bunburians to slip into our fine City once it’s done.

That’s if they can navigate the Bypass themselves. With a head designer telling The Times,

“Basically, it’s going to involve a series of roundabouts somewhere near the Wilman Wadandi Highway. If you’re in Bunbury looking to get to Perth you’ll have to navigate these roundabouts and catch the train somewhere in the madness”

It doesn’t sound like a very convenient service for Bunbury but as clearly stated in the legislation the law is the law.
