City of Perth confident parking fee hike is a ‘non-issue’ thanks to Perth’s famous love of public transport

It’s a move that some punters are sceptical about given the CBD has the humming hustle and bustle of Galleria most of the time.

However, the City of Perth is “quietly confident” the increased parking fees won’t lead to a reduction in visitor numbers given how Perth residents famously embrace public transport.

A source close to the CoP told The Times,

“Total non-issue, just last week I overheard a couple of guys at the pub talking about how they were going to smash public transport on the weekend and they were getting really gee’d up at the thought. Everyone loves a bus-bus-train connection in Perth”

In fact, some are predicting the lack of affordable parking, especially at night, where some claim to be “scared”, is just what the city needs.

We spoke to someone who in the know who told The Times,

“What’s more important, people feeling safe to visit the CBD at night? Or the City of Perth raising more money to transport Space Basil back home? Think about it. It’s pretty obvious what has helped the city and it isn’t visitors feeling secure”

Well, that’s certainly a different perspective.
