Experts warn global conflict could push international airfares toward regional WA prices

Passengers wishing to fly internationally have been met with the harsh realisation that fares are now hovering around the atmospheric heights of typical regional WA travel.

Global uncertainty and cancelled routes have caused havoc on itineraries which is just a nice way of saying – given the airlines an opportunity to gouge.

Experts call it the “holiday to Broome threshold” which is the point where a trip within the state of WA finally seems like an affordable option.

We spoke to an air travel expert who said families were already looking at regional WA as a viable holiday destination. Adding,

“At the moment, a family can JUST get to Europe and back for less than a last minute booking for someone having to visit a sick relative in Perth from Karratha. However we expect to cross the threshold some time next week”

Bad news for the world but great news for anyone finally wanting to see what Esperance is all about.

However, other experts predict that Qantas will never let that happen. Telling The Times,

“You think Qantas won’t use the conflict in the Middle East as an excuse to drive up regional fares? You’re dreaming mate. You know their slogan – gouge, gouge, gouge”

That sounds about right, if we’re honest.
