Little shop selling expensive American snacks & stuff mysteriously pops up in Hakea after 2026 smoking ban announced

Authorities are suspicious of a little shop that mysteriously popped up in Hakea prison ahead of the 2026 smoking ban.

Prison officers have said the shop looks very similar to the ones that pop up on the main drags of busy Perth suburbs overnight and specialise in jet lighters, American snacks and something or rather in locked cabinets.

A spokesperson for Corrections told The Times,

“It’s very unusual seeing a retail space activated inside a prison. Where do these stores come from? No one really knows but as far as we can tell they only stock $20 bags of takis that no one ever buys, suss”

To get to the bottom of it, we spoke to a prisoner inside Hakea who told The Times that once the smoking ban is implemented it will be harder to get “American snacks” into the prison and a store that sells American snacks would make a fortune. Adding,

Lotta blokes in here don’t want the smoking ban. I reckon a pouch of Hot Cheetos could go for maybe $400. Did I say pouch? I meant bag.

It seems not even prisons can escape these enterprising little establishments.
