The VFL has a special treat in store for the State of Origin crowd this afternoon with a surprise proposal to their beloved Collingwood star Nick Daicos.
The Times can report that the VFL plans to stop the game the moment Nick Daicos nails a bog standard disposal. A source close to the VFL told us,
“They’ll stop the game, not that it’s a real game anyway, and come out, bend a knee and declare their eternal love for the marketing superstar. By all accounts it will be a very dignified proposal and hopefully is reciprocated by the young man”
Alas, some are unsure it’s the right time as perhaps the hurt caused by failing to get Nick over the Brownlow line multiple times is still festering like a yeasty jock itch of resentment.
We spoke to someone close to the Collingwood Footy Club who said the VFL are laughing if they think Nick will say yes. Adding,
“Crippa is one thing but giving it to a non-Victorian team player over Nick? Pull the other one, the VFL clearly didn’t do enough to sure up that victory and no amount of tantrums after the award ceremony were going to make up for it!”
However, the VFL clearly takes a contrary view and deems a particularly fitting moment as they don’t have to pretend they are the AFL given the nature of the state-based clash.
Good luck VFL!
