Perth Stadium has seen an opportunity to recover any lost profit today due to the heat by offering the unsold seats for the Scorchers game to Midland Brick.
At a competitive rate, Midland Brick will be able to secure the seats and use them to kiln up some bricks nice and good. We spoke to a source close to the deal who told The Times,
“Yeah it’s going to be a scorcher! Has anyone made that pun yet? Anyway, 39 ambient temp so I reckon it’s going to feel like 900 or more inside the stadium, perfect for brick kilning”
Cricket Australia and the Perth Scorchers approve of the plan adding that CA had to do everything it can to recoup the losses caused by England forgetting how to play test cricket.
However, how do the fans feel about sitting next to industrial brick production? Well, a hardcore Scorchers fan told The Times,
“Bricks are about as WA as the Scorcher supremacy so I’m all for it, I reckon I’ll ask them if I can take a brick home for the young feller, maybe Mitch Marsh can sign a few?”
Another fan wasn’t so sure. Adding that he’d hoped to use any spare seat next to him to help cook dinner – as a way to save time. Adding,
“I’ve already got my chook ready and I was going to let it cook and eat it on the way home, win win, ya know, but I like bricks too I guess”
Well that’s the community coming together for ya.
