Spotify reveal its top song of 2025: “Destroying Aussie Music With an Unfair Algorithm”

Spotify has revealed its own 2025 Spotify Wrapped and no doubt every Aussie has enjoyed these bangers throughout the year.

At top spot goes a little ditty called “Destroying Aussie Music with an Unfair Algorithm”. Described as a haunting death knell for Aussie creativity, the song really lays bare just how little this company does to support local artists.

After all, why would Australians want to support the grass roots talent that shapes our national identity? Especially in a time where festivals are on the ropes and the sources of reliable income wither for any band not able to sell out a stadium.

Next on the list, is a related song called “Paying ‘em peanuts” – a corporate anthem that explores how streaming giants benefit from the work artists do while compensating them with the loose change they find stuck in the car seats of musical exploitation.

At number 3, they have been absolutely rinsing The “We Don’t Understand Shuffle” Shuffle – not just an absolute tune but a dance craze. Anyone who uses their shuffle mode doesn’t need any introduction to the themes of this song.

At number 4, there is a not to the ever growing repugnant trend to acknowledge AI artists and smash them in your face. Hey, they don’t give a shit, its all ad revenue & data for them.

Finally, at number 5, we have a song goading the public to go back to the old ways if they don’t like what Spotify is doing.

Honestly, spotify, we just might.
