In a sobering sign of the times, beloved discount store Red Dot has singled out a new growth market in Perth wealthiest suburb, Peppermint Grove.
The store is set to open at Cottesloe Central aka The Grove and will provide much needed financial respite to the battling silverspooneratti that have called the area home for generations.
We spoke to a signet-ring-wearing-toff who said a Red Dot is sorely what the area needs, adding,
“A lot of us in Peppy Grove are doing it tough, I’ve personally found myself looking for marked down items at The Boat Shed, what if that got back to the fellers at the yacht club? The shame”
Indeed, many in the suburb have had to reduce their Au Pair’s wage to cope with the cost of living – an infinitely better solution than raising their own children, mind you.
We spoke to a matriarch of an affluent family who said she was going to be first in line once the store opened, telling The Times,
“If anyone gets between me and that $2 bottle of Cleana dishwashing liquid there is going to be trouble, 500ml for $2! I think we will be able to afford our 3rd holiday to Aspen this year”
Of course, not everyone is happy with the savings, with Cottesloe residents up in arms that the store is opening on the “wrong” sdie of Stirling Highway. Wiuth on prominent resident saying,
“What about us? Cottesloe always gets ignored when it comes to getting a leg up in this world!”
So true.
