Cricket Australia has reacted strongly to the news David Warner was charged with drink driving in Sydney this week.
In a special press conference called by Cricket Australia, the organisation stated that if Warner was convicted of the offence next month, they would expect an apology from Cameron Bancroft.
A spokesperson for CA told The Times,
“If proven it’s completely unacceptable by Cameron Bancroft. We hate to say it but David Warner getting charged is just another hurdle to Bancroft ever getting selected to play for Australia again. That may seem harsh but that’s how we operate”
Cricket Australia has also allegedly said that they’ll happily provide a character witness statement to the Court about how Bancroft is really at fault in all this.
Critics of Cricket Australia state that this was just another example of disproportionately punishing Bancroft for the actions of others
