Kalgoorlie super pit now the world’s largest swimming pool after historic drenching

In good news for the farmers in Perth, Kalgoorlie was blessed by mother nature popping a squat and blitzing a former rainfall record from 1939.

By all accounts it was a wet and wild couple of days in Kalgoorlie with some much needed showers reaching the miners who didn’t get around to showering before a big weekend at the Kal Cup.

So much rain fell that the famous Kalgoorlie Super Pit is looking a little different today after a heavy few days of rain for the region. In fact, it is now considered the world’s largest pool, absolutely dwarfing the crystal Lagoon at the San Alfonso del Mar resort in Chile – the former record holder.

We spoke to a Kalgoorlie local who was racing to the Pit with his inflatable toys in hand. He told The Times,

“You bewwwwdy mate, Kal has a new pool and its big enough to make sure I’m not marinating in the piss of every bozo in Kal, as you’d expect, Kal is full of pool pissers”

Indeed it is, in fact, after 2 days of the pool being open, so much chlorine has been used that Kalgoorlie is now on a Government watchlist.

Nevertheless, the pool has provided a bit of a tourism boom for the town who boasts its top rated tourist activity as sinking pints at 6am.

We spoke to a young family that made their way to Kalgoorlie yesterday to check out the new facilities. They told The Times,

“I told the kids to keep an eye out for any nuggets. No, not gold, I mean human nuggets, I’m pretty sure Big Rob who arrived in a Ford Ranger is the sort to muddy the waters, if you catch my drift”

He sure is.

Documenting the Human Zoo is thirsty work, so if you enjoyed what you read how about buying Belle a beer, ay?
