NOR beachgoer concedes romance with SOR beach fan was doomed from the start

A pair of star-crossed lovers have made the difficult decision to pull the pin on what was looking like a very promising relationship.

Alas, the foundations were rockier than an English shoreline and both Tamara and Ben admit it was never going to work.

We spoke to Tamara who was brought up in the leafy green Subiaco burbs and had become a City Beach girl through and through – although – happy to rough it at Floreat if the occasion called for it.

Ben was born & raised in Hami Hill and was drawn to the call of his beloved South Beach. His happy place. His oasis from the neverending river of irritation they call life.

The pair met over the silly season at a CBD bar. It was lust at first sight and what started on a park bench finished on a futon in Tamara’s courtyard. Alas, cracks formed soon after. Tamara told The Times,

“We decided to catch up for a day at the beach. I suggested City Beach and he went along with it but I could tell he wasn’t comfortable – the car park, the crowd, the sand, but he did it for me”

For the next date, Ben asked Tamara to come and check out South Beach but she refused. Saying the water SOR made her skin break out and that she was probably allergic to plebby beaches.

This was no doubt a hard Mitsi to shelve for Ben who suggested they’d have to split the load if they were going to make this work. Something Tamara couldn’t do, telling The Times,

“What if we get married and have kids, then what? Do we continue with this summer time charade that either of us are happy when we’re at a beach on the other side of the river? Do we live a lie? I can’t”

Ben ultimately agreed, saying that despite his success in life he couldn’t stand the way Tamara looked at him after she found out he loved SOR beaches. Adding,

“We were really into each other but I could tell she needed a shower after even hugging me once she knew. I don’t think the relationship was tenable looking back on it. No one wants to feel like sub human scum when they look into their girl’s eyes”

A classic tale.
