Perth Airport upgrade to include operating theatres so you can have elective surgery while waiting on cancelled flights

Perth Airport has confirmed the long awaited upgrade of the facilities will include several operating theatres to help passengers pass the time on account of cancelled flights. It’s a big money maker for the Airport especially given the WA Government’s interest in chipping in some funds to help.

An industry insider said the ambitious plan would be a hit with passengers. Adding,

“We’ve all been there. Jetstar cancel your flight and tell you the next available is some time the next day. Why go home when you can get a fresh set of norks on your chest? Or maybe deal with that troublesome knee?”

To test the popularity of the proposal. We spoke to a man currently waiting on a delayed flight. He told The Times,

“I really need this snoring surgery, so instead of sitting here spending $20 on a pint of beer I could knock that out, recover fully, and then probably only need to wait another 10 hours for my flight”

The synergy between the two essential public services was a step in the right direction and would help alleviate the frustration of the airport and give support to the ailing health system.

Naturally, the plan has its critics. With some arguing that the airport should be converted into a hospital and the entire flight aspect of the business be scrapped.

Other residents in Redcliffe claim they didn’t want to deal with the noise associated with a hospital.

Whether the plan goes ahead remains to be seen.
