Qantas hackers now the custodians of millions of useless flight credits

The group thought to be behind the Qantas hack have found themselves in the unenviable position of only being able to use the data to steal identities and access useless flight credits.

Hoping the data scraped would lead to more fruitful opportunities the hacking group has decided to abandon their plans. With one telling The Times,

“So we got their log in info but we can’t do anything with these fkn flight credits. Can’t transfer them, can’t seemingly use them for flights, what kind of dog & pony show are Qantas running?”

Qantas has reached out to affected customers and assured them that even if the hackers do attempt to use the flight credits they will get the same treatment they show their own customers.

A source close to Qantas told The Times,

“Yeah, those things are completely useless, you should be thanking the hackers for taking them off your hands”

Indeed, some customers have actually reached out to the hackers and thanked them perfectly for getting the credits off their hands. With one telling The Times,

“Been trying to use them since 2019 when they dogged me during COVID. Honestly, wtf are they even for? They can have em!”
