Rio Tinto Asks Workforce To Chip In A Bitta Fuel Money As Diesel Soars

Shareholders have praised the $220B company after it came up with an ingenious solution to the soaring price of diesel.

Understanding that reducing employee wage would be an unpopular move, Rio thought outside the box and hit them up for a bit of fuel money.

In a companywide email, Rio told its workforce that they are doing it tough with the price of diesel and seeing as everyone is in it together, they should help pay for the increased cost or bring some diesel of their own in.

A source close to the mining giant told The Times,

“Rio positioned itself like a good mate on a road trip, everyone is going on the journey together so why should the one who owns the car pay for all the fuel? It’s normal in that circumstance and its very, very normal in this one”

We spoke to a shareholder who said it was about time employees actually did their bit,

“How much of my shareholder value goes to their wages? It’s outrageous, they bloody well should be chipping in so I can buy a new boat this summer”

Some within the workforce have labelled this an audacious request and despite their relatively high wages they were not earning anywhere near the billions Rio was.

That, my friend, is called a failure to practice gratitude!
