Western Australia’s plan to merge UWA, Murdoch and Curtin into a mega-University has been derailed by the usual suspects.
The committee tasked with overseeing the plan admitted that the merger not feasible on account of their unwillingness to sit through another long winded, barely relevant, personal anecdote from a mature aged student during the consultation.
Ignoring the irony of that long winded sentence, a source close to the Uni told The Times,
“This guy Barry kept interjecting and telling us that as someone with 30 years’ experience in corporate consultancy we were looking at the core idea wrong before launching into a 20-minute story that seemingly had no relevancy or point really”
Another mature, age student was more poetic and while having not personally overseen a University mega-merger, believed a story involving her kids was allegorical. Our source added,
“If any of us has to listen to little Ted shitting himself at Bayswater Waves pool again I think we’ll go crazy. This just isn’t worth it”
No doubt this will be music to the ears of the key University players who don’t want a bar of this mega merger.
Looks like mature-age students are good for something after all.
