Riverside property owners wondering what Hyde Park is going to do with all those shot hole borer larvae

Affluent residents from Rossmoyne to Peppermint Grove have been more than a little curious as to what the City of Vincent is going to do with all the shot hole borer larvae that have resulted in a heartbreaking number of trees needing to be destroyed in Hyde Park.

See, the problem with the little beetle is that they like to tunnel into trees and destroy them from the inside. This isn’t a good thing for Hyde Park’s canopy however a riverside property owner with a pesky tree might see the borer’s abilities as convenient.

We spoke to an Applecross resident who lives on the river. He has been down at Hyde Park everyday checking out trees for beetles for reasons he won’t disclose. Adding,

“Is it a crime to be interested in biosecurity? I just want to see what they are going to do with the beetles. Any suggestion I’ll be trying to transport some to that piece of shit tree blocking my view is defamatory!”

Another resident from Bicton has been in contact with the City of Stirling every day. He told The Times,

“I’m a good Samaritan with a trailer. I told the City of Vincent that I’d be happy to help out with the removal of tree branches after they are cut down as part of the plan to save Hyde Park. They don’t seem to be getting back to me though”

Other riverside property owners have decided to skip the middleman and have been seen removing branches from the park without permission.

One can only imagine why.
