WA declines Japan’s enthusiastic offer to help search for pod of whales that stranded yesterday

The Great Nation of Japan has extended an offer to Western Australia they believed we couldn’t refuse after dozens of pilot whales were rescued yesterday after a mass stranding event.

A spokesperson for Japan told The Times

“We have 100 of the best spotting planes known to man at your disposal. We only ask that one of our scientists joins each search party as we tirelessly comb the ocean for those whales”

The spokesperson then went on to describe the mass stranding event as a “deliciously sad tragedy” and one that made his “mouth water”.

Moments after the bizarre comments the Japanese spokesperson blamed his otherwise perfect English for the “mistranslation” that must have occurred between his brain and mouth. Adding,

“I meant to say a horribly sad tragedy and that it made my eyes water, excuse my English it must have been a… mistake”

We can report the Western Australian Government has politely declined the offer. A spokesperson for WA told The Times,

“They were pretty insistent. They had already landed in WA and presented at Parliament with a full range of sonar equipment. They were super keen to find those whales for some reason but I think we have it covered”

We can also report a request from Norway for similar assistance was declined by WA.

Hopefully, the whales remain at sea.
