Albany worried it hasn’t gone hard enough on roundabouts

The City of Albany has woken up in a cold sweat this morning over fears they might not have enough roundabouts.

The notorious traffic-light-dodgers have long opted for roundabouts over alternative illuminated traffic management systems. We spoke to an Albany local who said she shared the fears,

“We pride ourselves on not having traffic lights you know. We might be one of the largest cities without them but it does make you wonder if there are sufficient roundabouts in place. I’d be lying if I said it didn’t eat away at me every day”

To date, Albany has 54 roundabouts. A figure that it says it could potentially double or triple by the new year.

A spokesperson for The City of Albany told The Times,

“We have had our heads down pioneering new roundabouts for the benefit of Albany. Instead of fixing pot holes we intend to create roundabouts to dodge the gaping hole. Imagine that, 5-10 roundabouts on every street. That’s the Albany dream!”

Haters of the plan have taken a contrary view and believe Albany should be dragged kicking and screaming into the modern age. We spoke to a blow-in who told The Times,

“Albany just acts like they’ll never need the luxuries of a big City but you can’t avoid Perth and once you get there you’ll want to make sure you understand how a traffic light works. Not that anyone living in Albany is young enough to maintain a driver’s licence but you know, precautions”

Food for thought. At the time of writing this article we can report that Albany has committed to at least another 10 roundabouts this year.

So don’t stress yet traffic-light-dodgers, you’re safe for now.
