In classic AFL VFL fashion, Geelong’s latest concussion waiver controversy has not resulted in any sanctions after the AFL accepted Geelong’s defence that they are Geelong and operate under a different standard.
An insider told The Times that the AFL took only minutes to deliberate on whether to impose a penalty on Geelong, adding,
“Geelong made a very convincing argument that sanctioning them for this would set a untenable precedent of holding them account for all the other bullshit, and no one wants THAT”
Geelong closed out their case by playing their club song, listing off their achievements and telling the AFL to hurry it up as they all had crops to sow and paddocks to plough.
Naturally, not everyone in the footy world is happy with the situation. However, our insider said the AFL has a clear policy, adding,
“Look it’s not like a non-Victorian team did it, so seriously calm down, what’s the big deal anyway? Do clubs have a duty of care or something now? Game’s gone woke”
