Brick shortage forces WA double-brick lover to build house actually suited to climate

A brick shortage is sweeping Western Australia and it’s so bad that builders are now on brick rations.

Naturally, this is awful news to the WA double brick mindset that has plagued the construction industry for decades.

Some people thinking about building have even been forced to reckon with the prospect of ditching double brick and building a home that is capable of human habitation in summer.

The horror.

We spoke to a double brickhead who said this was the worst thing to happen to anyone, anywhere, adding,

“My dad, his dad and his dad before him are all double brickers. I come from a long line of double brickers and I refuse to believe any other material is more suited to building a liveable home. I have a swamp box that does fuck all and that’s how I like it”

Another double brickhead said using any other construction material was “woke” and nothing scares him more than some brick magnate in a RAM calling him woke.

Perhaps WA will have to face a brave new world and explore other damn ideas than double brick.
