Coles and Woolworths have led the charge on the fight against pervert glasses by banning customers from wearing them in their stores.
In a statement provided to The Times, a spokesperson for Colesworth said,
“If people think they can come into one of our supermarkets and FILM people while they are going about their business they have another thing coming. Who would do that? That’s so creepy and intrusive. Not what we’re about at all”
Experts have applauded Colesworth for the initiative and said the use of AI cameras was a growing societal issue and massive privacy concern. With one telling us,
“Thank goodness you have moral companies like Colesworth who take a stand over unwanted surveillance, they will be regarded as the gold standard in this area after this I reckon”
We spoke to a customer who said they were looking forward to shopping away from the gaze of AI recording, adding,
“I know now that I can come to Coles or Woolworths and feel safe that my face isn’t being tracked and mined for data or that someone has a recording of my bending over or something like that”
