Coles is on the look out for a new surveillance partner after having to cut ties with Palantir over the public’s concerns over the parrtnership.
As it turns out, your average Coles shopper wanting to pick up some groceries was a little concerned a company providing military grade surveillance company to the US military was also in cahoots with a fucking supermarket chain.
Naturally, Coles saw the Perth Land Forces Defence Expo as a great place to find a new partner who didn’t have such an infamous reputation.
A source close to Coles told The Times,
“You team up with one shady, nefarious, super powerful tech company and people have a go at ya! Clearly the problem is with how well known Palantir had become so Coles are hoping to find a less known entity that won’t make such salacious headlines”
Even if there are no direct exhibitors that can help, Coles is quietly confident they are in the right place to network. As one feller outside the Convention Centre told The Times,
“Psst kid, want some AI data analysing software that can be fully integrated into perhaps a weaponised security gate?”
Well that sounds perfectly dystopian. He continued,
“Our systems have a 0.1% malfunction rate which is pretty good and will mean only a few grannies will get fried by the gates, all the rest will be legitimate poor people thinking they can pilfer their way into survival”
Good luck on your mission Coles.
