In true AFL fashion, the League has been floating the idea of shortening quarters for the benefit of the athletes and more importantly so they can cram more games into a season when Tassie arrive.
Alas, while open to the discussion, some clubs are sceptical of whether this truly would benefit players. Not Freo though.
They are now balls deep behind this proposal and have applauded the AFL for its rare moment of genius. A source confirmed,
“Freo love the idea and reckon there is serious merit in reducing quarters by at least… say… 4 minutes? Just tremendous innovation from the AFL”
We spoke to a Freo fan who said the world would be a more magical place if quarters were under 20 minutes,
“The sun would be shining, we’d have silverware and I wouldn’t be hiding in my office from my Eagles supporting coworkers circling me like banter-vultures, shoo you wretched beasts!”
