Kitty litter is being stripped off the shelves after rumours broke of an impending lockdown once Cat Containment Legislation passes and gives more power to local councils to require owners to keep cats inside.
It all started after some local cats convened at their favourite native fauna slaughtering spot yesterday and exchanged ominous meows and hisses of what was to come.
By midday, the free roaming felines had hit up every Pet Barn in the City after the instinct to safe guard your toilet comfort in times of uncertainty kicked in.
We spoke to an animal behaviour expert who said they picked it up from us sadly,
“Cats are highly intelligent beasts so after observing us since the spicy cough days they learned that lockdowns = the existential fear of a future with unhygienic toilet practices and they weren’t going to stand for that, we grab toilet paper, they grab kitty litter”
At this stage there is just a lot of uncertainty as level of containment will have to be decided upon by individual councils. However, it seems they picked up another trait for us – talking mad amounts of shit whenever announcements are imminent.
Our expert continued,
“It’s just like that cooker friend of yours during COVID telling everyone a year lockdown was coming because his wife’s cousin’s brother’s physio spoke to his uncle’s golf buddy who married a nurse working at a RPH and getting ready”
Stores all over Perth are considering whether to limit kitty litter to just 2 bags per customer in light of the panic.
