Major Australian supermarkets have been forced to take proactive action to manage toilet paper stock ahead of tomorrow’s AusAlert warning test.
Despite the advanced warning by the Government, there will no doubt be a significant section of the population who receives the warning test, fails to read it, and anticipates the end is nigh.
What does a rational individual do when faced with impending Armageddon? They buy up as much toilet paper as humanly possible.
Why? Fuck knows. In fact, when it comes to survival, toilet paper would struggle to crack the top 10 list. Useful? Sure, a luxury? Absolutely. However, an absolute essential? Not really if you’ve got a hose handy.
I digress.
Coles, Woolworths and IGA have all printed their own stickers to be placed throughout the toilet paper aisle to ensure people don’t panic buy for no reason.
While a good initiative, there will still be a large section of the community who assume the need for a test in the first place is foreboding of some new world order, bug eating, 15 minute city, bullshit.
These people will naturally be on the hunt for toilet paper in any event and will not be stopped by the notices in place.
Documenting the Human Zoo is thirsty work, so if you enjoyed what you read how about buying Belle a beer, ay?
