Sanae Takaichi trip to Australia has proven rather fruitful for the WA mining sector after Japan struck a deal to establish a FIFO service from a Hakuba ski resort.
Under the deal, Japan will cover half the cost of the air travel and FIFO workers will get the chance to live the modern bogan dream.
It’s unclear which mining companies will be offering this to their workforce, but the basic idea is 2 weeks in the Pilbara and then 1 week being an absolute pest on Japanese ski fields.
A spokesperson for WA mining told The Times,
“It’s where our workforce’s heart is and frankly happy workers are better workers. Our only concern is that they’ll get absolutely Suntory-d on the 9%’ers and injure themselves skiing or the like, which in hindsight is almost definitely going to happen every swing”
Naturally, FIFO workers are stoked which is a sentiment not quite shared by the workers at the Japanese ski resorts. With one telling The Times,
“They bring great shame to Japan”
No doubt about that.
