The MCG has warned Fremantle Docker fans to get to the game at least 5 hours early on Saturday due to an extensive bag check operation it has planned.
Operation: Hells Bells will see every single Fremantle fan’s bag & person checked for a one-tonne bronze bell that could be used to instigate the banned “Wharfie Time”.
A source close to the MCG said the operation was inconvenient but necessary.
“The AFL has made it clear that Fremantle will not be able to utilise Wharfie Time at the Grand Final. The MCG knows this is disappointing to Freo fans who enjoy the spectacle and motivational push it gives the boys, so they are on high alert”
the MCG’s vigilance appears to be justified, with several caravans have been found with one-tonne bronze bells in them on the border of Victoria.
This has prompted local authorities to warn Western Australians that Wharfie Time will not be tolerated on the day and random stop & searches will be conducted int he areas surrounding the MCG.
You have been warned.
