The WA Government has made a hardline stance against perve-glasses been present at our public schools.
From the start of the fourth term this year, no one on school grounds, be they student, staff or contractor can possess smart glasses without a valid exemption (i.e. for a disability).
It has widely been praised and to ensure this zero-tolerance approach to intrusive filming is upheld they will be rolling out a series of special AI-cameras into schools to aid enforcement.
We spoke to an industry insider who said to beat a bad guy with an AI-camera you needed a good guy with an AI-camera, adding,
“These cameras are great they’ll be on at all times scanning the kids’ faces and detecting if their glasses contain recording equipment, it’s the only way we can think of to stop kids getting recorded at schools”
The plan does have its critics however. With some havnig issues with the new cameras. As one parent put it,
“How can we be sure that no one interferes with these cameras filming our kids to protect them from being filmed? Surely we need cameras watching the AI-cameras too?”
Very good point. In a moment of surveillanception there will be a 2nd set of CCTV cameras recording the AI-cameras. Our source said,
“You better believe we will add as many recording devices as possible in schools to keep our schools surveillance free”
