Fremantle Docker great Nat Fyfe is to the rescue after the AFL agreed to a conditional use of Wharfie Time at the Grand Final on Saturday.
After hearing the news, he knew what had to be done. Swiftly arranging a prime mover through his extensive truckie contacts, loading up the Perth Stadium screen and a one-tonne brass bell to ring out the ominous tone of Wharfie Time.
We can report that Aaron Sandilands, who was in on the mission, loaded the enormous stadium screen all by himself in a display of Flagmantle might.
We spoke to a witness who saw the whole thing. He told The Times,
“They were calling the rig Flagmantlus Prime and they were on a mission. Nat’s an experienced truck driver so he doesn’t need to speed it’s just him and Sandilands taking shifts until they get to the G before Saturday”
While Flagmantle fans are hoping they won’t need the motivation, it’s better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.
We can also report that the Dockers don’t particularly trust the MCG to get it right with their own technology. As one fan told The Times,
“This isn’t a tiger roar, this needs perfect execution. Precision. It has to be with Westralian technology and in Westralian hands. Hopefully Fyfe himself will ring the bell”
