The record books have been shattered with Perth recording a temperature somewhere between absolute 0 and a Perth living room yesterday.
Exact temperature was somewhat difficult to determine given the conditions instantly froze mercury and interrupted the circuits in digital thermometers.
However, the boffins at BOM told The Times that based on the absolute fear in the average Perth short-wearers eyes, the temp was truly diabolical, adding,
“I don’t think Perth was expecting that. People were even witnessed putting on socks with their Surfer Joes. So, perhaps −273.15 °C is a conservative estimate. Has Perth disproven absolute 0 as an absolute? Yesterday has given theoretical physics at lot to chew on”
In another curious quirk of the day, BOM said it was the first day observed where it was colder outside than inside the average Peth dwelling.
Which to many was a rare moment of sanity in the brisk chaos of an actual winters day. With one punter telling us,
“Yeah I guess that’s how shelter is supposed to work, feels good for a change I reckon”
Too right.
Oh, and we also had icebergs: TransPerth ferry hits iceberg in the Swan River
