Western Australia has been left in a state of shock after a report funded by Woodside came to some surprisingly pro-Woodside conclusions.
The report claimed achieving Net 0 emissions by 2050 is not possible based on WA’s current trajectory and that the only hope WA has of survival is allowing Woodside to proceed with the Browse gas project and make a gazillion dollars off our gas.
A source close to the mining industry said its corporate propaganda is almost unheard of and anything funding from a resource giant is always for the good of everyone. Adding,
“A few cynics out there are thinking they released this to further their own interests which is pretty insulting. When has a mining giant ever pulled a stunt like that?”
We spoke to a regular WA citizen who said he honestly expected the report to come out more in favour of the environment. Adding,
“Sounds like this report is a bit pro-Woodside. It seems to align with its profit ambitions quite perfectly which I have to say surprises me. I thought Woodside would be more altruistic than that. I’ll just chalk it up to a big ol coinkydink”
Word on the street is that Woodside is considering funding another report that makes some persuasive arguments on why they shouldn’t pay us our 25% also.
