The AFL VFL has announced that following the victory by the Brisbane Lions against Hawthorn the 2026 Grand Final will be between Fitzroy and Freo.
A source close to the Victorian-centric league told The Times they were always keen to have some Victorian representation in the granny, adding,
“It’s pretty simple when Brisbane are winning they are Fitzroy to the Vic media & AFL and when they aren’t winning (as rare as that is) they go back to being Brisbane”
The Victorian Footy Industrial Complex is already in full swing with key stakeholders saying they were eagerly awaiting another Fitzroy Lions 3 peat
They are calling it the rematch to the 1995 round 3 blockbuster where Fremantle got the drop on Fitzroy to secure their very first win in the league.
Of course, there is some sorrow with the result as South Melbourne were unable to get through against a WA team, our insider continued,
