The WA Budget has set aside a modest $4.8 million for the “Stickers for Change” scheme that will empower millions of Westralians to make savings at the grocery checkout.
According to recent data, rising grocery expenses are one of the leading black holes that decent folk’s hard earned cash flows into.
So, the Government is investing in little black stickers that will be rolled out across self serve checkouts all over the State to disrupt the Orwellian gaze of big retail.
We spoke to a battler who said rising grocery costs and advancements of camera technology has hit him hard. Adding,
“Life has been expensive for a while but getting to fill my boots with expensive Woolies shit was a little weekly win that I needed. It meant that I could enjoy decent food and still have money left over for minor shit like medicine and rent ha ha”
Woolworths & Coles are naturally concerned with the budget allocation. Arguing that consumers like being treated like the filthy little criminals they are. An insider added,
“Who are the real criminals? The grocery duopoly who opportunistically squeezed the most vulnerable in society for a cynical shareholder value play since Covid? Or the battler sending a few capsicums through as brown onions? You decide”
The stickers will be rolling out this week.
